Martha's Blog

Thank you for following me through this blog! I created this blog for two reasons. The first is to continue sharing and expanding on the topics that were covered in Lessons From My Grandmother and the second––and most important––is to dialogue with you, the readers. With regards to further exploring topics covered in the novel, as you can imagine, there is a lot that was not said in the book that is relevant to our lives as we battle negative thinking and negative emotions on a daily basis, which tend to thwart our creative ability.

I had to limit the book to less than 100,000 words, which was the maximum word count. In fact, I had to cut the original draft by 20,000 words and ended up leaving some pertinent topics on the cutting floor. So one of the things I will do in this blog is to revisit some of that material to expand on what is presented in the novel. Then I am inviting you, the readers, to share your thoughts on the novel. Are there areas that you think could have been expanded on? Do you see things differently on certain topics covered in the book? Do you have experiences that you would like to share?

I always love to hear the take from others as I know there is no one way for things to unfold in our lives. There is only the way that it unfolds for each of us, and that is what we share with others. I know my knowledge expands by listening to the stories that others tell. I will answer your questions to the best of my knowledge and, just for fun, I think I will have Yeukai, the narrator in the novel, come back to speak with you on some of the topics. Wouldn’t that be fun?

Oh and I will also occasionally post reviews of books I’ve read at different stages of my life and that touched me deeply.
